Dr. Jeffrey Geller has been an emergency room physician for the last 25 years. Like others, he has seen the rise of the opioid crisis and has wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem. Five years ago, he took action and started taking courses on addiction medicine. Together with his wife Dawn, a registered nurse, they created New Dawn Wellness and Rehab. They were joined several months ago by Nurse Practitioner, Danielle Sasso, APN-C. Danielle has extensive experience in the fields of addiction medicine, Emergency Room and Neuro ICU. Their philosophy is "Rehab With Dignity". They know that there is a terrible stigma associated with addiction. They treat their patients in a quiet, private setting.
Danielle is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with certification in medication assisted treatments for addiction. She began her career In health care over 20 years ago as a nurse in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit At Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where she transitioned into an advanced practice provider. Since that time, she has gained experience in trauma, neurology, family practice, emergency medicine, addiction medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Prior to joining New Dawn Wellness and Rehab LLC, she worked in addiction medicine treating patients in acute withdrawal due to polysubstance abuse. Following the acute detoxification period, she helped facilitate placement in local programs both inpatient and outpatient to provide the best opportunity for continued sobriety.
In addition to her clinical experience, Danielle’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Neumann University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the Thomas Jefferson University College of Health Professionals in Philadelphia, PA.
In her free time, Danielle enjoys spending time & traveling with her husband and three sons, reading, cooking and exercising.
Dawn received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education while a scholarship athlete at LaSalle University. While coaching at St. Joe’s University, she obtained her Master’s in Educational Leadership. In 2004, she and Dr. Geller opened ProCare Medical Staffing, a nursing staffing agency. She followed a lifelong dream of being in the medical field and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University in 2008. In 2016, Dr. Geller and Dawn opened ReVamp Medical Spa and that’s where their vision to help others battling opioid dependency was born. In 2019, New Dawn Wellness and Rehab opened. Dawn shares a passion for helping others and remembers vividly wanting to be a Drug and Alcohol counselor in 8th grade after reading Go Ask Alice. NDWR allows her to combine her love of addiction medicine and helping others battle against this epidemic sweeping across our nation. Her goal is to wipe out the stigma of mental illness and addiction and takes pride in treating each and every patient as if she was caring for a member in her family.
